Elevator Pitch
The Motley Kids are on the road! This week we’re celebrating spring (we hope) with found nature suncatchers!
This Craft Makes:

A suncatcher with natural items inside.
Supplies:
You will need:
- 2 small paper plates
- Wax paper
- School glue
- Tape
- Paintbrush or sponge if you don’t like sticky fingers
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- String or twine
- Flat(tish) things found outside
- Sticks and twigs
Steps to Make It
- Cut the middle of your paper plates out, leaving the raised portion intact
To do this the easy way, cut a slit through the raised portion.
To do it the hard way, fold the plate a bit and cut the middle, then cut out from there. - If you used the “cut a slit” method then you will need to tape the bottom plate together on the BACK side
- Apply a thin layer of glue to the FRONT side of the plate
- Take a sheet of wax paper a little bigger than your plate and lay it over the top of the plate
- Use your other plate to push the wax paper down so it’s sealed against the bottom plate. Set the top plate aside.
- Smudge a thickish layer of glue (enough to see) across the whole layer of wax paper (all the way up to the edges of the plate)
- Press your found flat things into the glue. It’s okay if they don’t stick completely.
- Lay another sheet of wax paper a little bigger than your plate on top of the first.
- Apply a thin layer of glue to the BACK side of your other plate
- Push the top plate down onto the bottom plate and make sure all the bits are stuck together tightly.
- Trim off the extra wax paper
- Punch one hole in the top and 3-4 in the bottom of your suncatcher
- Make a loop of twine and attach to the top of your suncatcher
- Loop twine through the holes in the bottom, then attach some sticks to hang down
- Hold up to the light for a nature silhouette!
