Elevator Pitch
The Wicked Witch has cast a spell over the kingdom of Kidania! Solve the challenges to unlock her magic box and free the kingdom.

This is the long-form description of the day’s events.
Things That Happen
The Royal Treasury
The Witch has cast an illusion over the Royal Treasury! You’ll have to sneak in and find the crown — but be careful! Your eyes may deceive you.
Required items:
- Treasure Chest
- Crown with one of the four digits on it
- Bling to put in treasure chest
- Beans or rice or sand (if you’re crazy) to fill treasure chest
Setup:
- Fill treasure chest with substrate
- Bury crown and misc bling in the substrate
How to play:
Kids must find the crown in the treasure chest. It will have a number on it. They should write the number down before proceeding to the next station.
The Briar Patch
The Witch threw the Royal Scepter into the briar patch! You have to get it out, but there’s a catch — the thorns are poisonous. You’ll have to pick it apart with a stick.
Required items:
- Royal scepter with number on it
- 6-10 rope lengths
- Two long sticks
Setup:
- Coil the ropes together and tangle them up a bit
- Cover the scepter with the tangled ropes
How to play:
Using only the sticks (don’t touch the ropes with your hands), retrieve the scepter from the briar patch.
Write down the number on the scepter before moving on.
The Witch’s Defenders
The Castle of Kidania is surrounded by an army of flying monkeys! You’ll have to knock them all down to get inside. Better get tossing!
Required items:
- CD’s
- Flying monkey stickers to put on CD’s (attached
) - CD stands (3d print, attached)
- Hackey sacks or other projectiles
- Castle with a number on the bottom (3d print, attached)
Setup:
- Print stands if needed
- Put stickers on the CD’s to look like flying monkeys
- Set up CD’s in front of the castle
How to play:
Use the projectiles to knock down all of the monkeys and free the castle!
There’s a number on the bottom. Write it down.
The Fairy Ring
The fairies have kept the key to the kingdom safe inside their magic circle of mushrooms. However, they’ve also kept a lot of other things safe. Get the key without taking a trip to Fairyland by crossing the magic circle.
Required items:
- Key with a number on it (3d print, attached)
- Pool
- Sticky Hands
- Fairyland junk
- Mushroom cutouts (attached
)
Setup:
- Set up the pool
- Toss the key and the fairyland junk into the pool
- Set mushrooms around the pool
How to play:
Use the sticky hands to retrieve the key without crossing the mushroom ring.
Write down the number.
The Enchanted Library
The Witch has hidden the instructions for her magic box in the Enchanted Library. Solve the code to unlock the box.
Required items:
- Books you are willing to destroy
- Highlighter
- Marker
- Four-digit combination lock
- Lockable treasure chest
- Reward chits
Setup:
- Choose four of the books and number them inside the covers.
- Find a keyword in each book (castle, scepter/rod, key, crown) and highlight it.
- Write the page number the keyword is on in the front of the book.
- For a more complex game, create a sentence in each book and write the page numbers in order in the front cover.
How to play:
Find the four numbered books and use the code to tell you what order the four numbers should be in to open the lock on the witch’s treasure chest and retrieve a reward chit.
Sequence of Events:
- The Royal Treasury: Without looking, find the royal crown in a treasure chest full of magic beans. There is a number on it.
- The Briar Patch: Use two long sticks to pick apart the briar patch and retrieve the scepter. There is a number on it.
- The Witch’s Defenders: Knock down the monkeys to free the castle. There is a number on it.
- The Fairy Ring: Use a sticky hand to retrieve the key to the kingdom. There is a number on it.
- The Enchanted Library: Search through the books to find the witch’s secret. It will tell you what order to put the numbers in
- The Magic Box: Unlock the box and retrieve a treasure token!
